Heartgard Plus
Heartgard Plus is indicated for use in dogs to prevent canine heartworm disease by eliminating the tissue stage of heartworm larvae for a month (30 days) after infection, and for the treatment and control of roundworms and hookworms.

How Heartgard Plus works
Heartgard Plus prevents canine heartworm disease by eliminating the tissue stage of heartworm larvae (Dirofilaria immitis) for a month (30 days) after infection and for the treatment and control of ascarids (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina) and hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma braziliense).
How can you properly administer Heartgard Plus?
Heartgard Plus (ivermectin/pyrantel) should be administered orally at monthly intervals at the recommended minimum dose level of 6 mcg of ivermectin per kilogram (2.72 mcg/lb) and 5 mg of pyrantel (as pamoate salt) per kg (2.27 mg/lb) of body weight. The recommended dosing schedule for the prevention of canine heartworm disease and for the treatment and control of ascarids and hookworms is as follows:

Heartgard Plus is recommended for dogs 6 weeks of age and older. For dogs over 100 lb use the appropriate combination of these chewables.
What are the precautions in using Heartgard Plus?
All dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infection before starting treatment with Heartgard Plus which is not effective against adult D. immitis. Infected dogs must be treated to remove adult heartworms and microfilariae before initiating a program with Heartgard Plus. While some microfilariae may be killed by the ivermectin in Heartgard Plus at the recommended dose level, Heartgard Plus is not effective for microfilariae clearance. A mild hypersensitivity-type reaction, presumably due to dead or dying microfilariae and particularly involving a transient diarrhea, has been observed in clinical trials with ivermectin alone after treatment of some dogs that have circulating microfilariae.

Heartgard Plus is very reliable
I always use Heartgard Plus for my dog. It has been a very reliable product and I prefer Heartgard above any of the new products that have come on the market. Why try something else when you know that Heartgard works.

Been using this product for the last 6/7 years and our golden is fit as a fiddle why use a brand name when you can get it here for roughly half the price

Have been using these for my dogs for many years. The dogs love the taste so there's never any problem getting them to take the medicine. Works great . I wouldn't trust any other brand for my dogs!
Easy, Fast, Simple

Heartgard
My basset hound has taken Heartgard Plus generic and the name brand medicine for the last 2 years. He loves the taste of it and thinks it's a treat! Last time I ordered we didn't receive our product in the mail but Joe's Pet Meds customer service was great. They resent it out so we had no issue. I will always order from Joe's because they are affordable and have trusty products.

My three dogs are on monthly heart worm preventive, heartgard plus chewables. Everyone hates heartworms and needs protection from them. Heartgard Plus chewables is an effective medication and control. You wouldn't regret buying this.
Heartgard is Wonderful
We use Heartgard for both of our dogs and have loved it. It is safe, with no side effect and works effectively to prevent heartworms. Both of the dogs seem to look forward to taking it each month and I love the ease of giving it to them with peace of mind that it is working.
