Overview

Spinomil (Generic Trifexis) kills fleas and prevents flea infestations, prevents heartworm disease, and treats and controls adult hookworm, roundworm and whipworm infections in dogs. Spinomil is an all in one treatment for fleas, heartworm preventive and intestinal parasite control. Spinomil contains the same active ingredients as Trifexis. Spinomil must be administered monthly.

Active Ingredients

• Milbemycin Oxime: Eliminates the tissue stage of heartworm larvae and the adult stage of hookworm (Ancylostoma caninum), roundworm (Toxocara canis and Toxascaris leonina) and whipworm (Trichuris vulpis) infestations when administered orally according to the recommended dosage schedule.
• Spinosad: Is an insect development inhibitor which breaks the flea life cycle by inhibiting egg development. Lufenuron has no effect on the adult flea. After biting a lufenuron-treated dog, the female flea ingests a blood meal containing lufenuron which is subsequently deposited in her eggs. Lufenuron prevents most flea eggs from hatching or maturing into adults and thus prevents and controls flea populations by breaking the life cycle.

Usage Instructions

Spinosad is given orally, once a month, at the recommended minimum dosage of 13.5 mg/lb (30 mg/kg) and a minimum Milbemycin Oxime dose of 0.2 mg/lb (0.5 mg/kg). Administer Spinosad with food for maximum effectiveness. To ensure heartworm prevention, owners should observe the dog for one hour after dosing. If vomiting occurs within an hour of administration, redose with another full dose. If a dose is missed and a monthly interval between doses is exceeded, then immediate administration of TRIFEXIS with food and resumption of monthly dosing will minimize the opportunity for the development of adult heartworm infections and flea reinfestations.
