Interceptor Flavor Tabs are used to prevent heartworm disease and control intestinal worms in dogs.
For prevention of heartworm and control of intestinal worms, dogs should be treated with Interceptor every month, preferably on the same date. Heartworm is transmitted via mosquitoes, therefore the first dose of Interceptor should be given within one month of the start of the mosquito season and monthly until the end of the season for effective heartworm prevention. Many veterinarians recommend year-round dosing of this medication depending on the disease profile of the local area. The highly palatable beef flavored tablet can be given by hand as a treat, offered in food or given as for other tablet medications. Ensure that the dog consumes the whole dose. Each month, very small dogs up to 10lbs (< 4kg) should be given 1 tablet from the brown pack; small dogs 11-25lbs (4 to 11 kg) should be given 1 tablet from the green pack; medium dogs 26-50lbs (11 to 22 kg) should be given 1 tablet from the yellow pack; large dogs 50-100lbs (22 to 45 kg) should be given 1 tablet from the white pack.
Note: Growing puppies may gain sufficient weight during the course of treatment to require an increased dose of Interceptor before a packet has been consumed. A veterinarian should be consulted for appropriate dosing instructions for puppies.
Each tablet contains: milbemycin oxime & praziquantel
