RevolutionRevolution is a safe and simple way to protect your pet from a range of common parasites. It prevents heartworm disease while treating and controlling fleas (including flea eggs and larvae) and ear mites in both cats and dogs, hookworms and roundworms in cats and sarcoptes mites in dogs. This effective medication is applied to the skin of your pet once a month. Each tube contains: SELAMECTIN Directions for use: Depress the cap to puncture the seal, then remove the cap. Part the hair on the back of the animal in front of the shoulder blades until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the tube on the skin and squeeze the tube to empty its entire contents directly on to the skin. |

a question about double dosing
When you dose multiple pets from one tube, are you using the entire tube? If not, how are you sealing the remainder?

you must know!
You can save some considerable cash as the previous reviewer mentioned by buying for a larger animal and dividing the contents of the tube. The drug is the same but THE CONCENTRATION IS NOT! mg's are a measure of weight and ml's are a measure of volume. It is important to consider this as you don't want to under dose, or god forbid, over dose your cat, kitten or puppy. I am administering Revolution to 5 kittens and 3 adult cats. The dose for kittens, puppies(under 5lbs) is 15mg with .25ml solution. The dose for cats(5lbs-15lbs) is 45mg with .75ml(same ratio just x3). So for me it was cost effective to buy for the larger cat and divide 1 tube per 3 kittens. The strength/potency is double for dogs 5.1 lbs-130lbs. The ratio is 30mg with .25ml solution. For example, if you we're to put the dog solution on a kitten or puppy at .25ml it would be a double dose of selamectin(revolution). Of coarse the mg/amount of selamectin is what's most important and then the ml but you are opening a whole can of worms in regards to absorption rate's. example, kitten would get .125ml(seems foolish). With a cat .375 ml (seems more plausible but...) So to make it simple, puppies(up to 5 lbs), kittens and cats are one strength and dogs over 5 lbs are another. You still have to adjust the amount of solution(ml's) to your pets weight as the previous reviewer mentioned. He saved me some money so my hats off to him and he is dosing his cats at .375ml from a 360mg/3ml tube which is probably working just fine for them and awesome on the pocket.

did you know?
Did you know that the ingredients are the same for dogs and cats? If you buy Revolution for extra-large dogs you get 8 uses out of it for large cats. Joe's doesn't have that size but they do have it for large dogs which is 5.3 uses for large cats or exactly 4 uses for cats over 15 lbs. If you look up the ingredidents on the revolution website you can verify this. I buy for dogs and use for cats with a medicine syringe that you can get for free at any pharmacy.(The type you use for children's tylenol etc...)This way when I buy a three pack, I get 15 uses out of it. If you don't feel comfortable measuring the medicine yourself, I don't recommend this method. However, this was recommended to me by my vet who knew I was on a tight budget.

Revolution is the Best
I have been using Revolution for Cats for over 2 years now. It has shown that it can CONTROL fleas and parasites with a single application to the nape of the cat's neck once a month. It is waterproof after 2 hour application has been made. I love Revolution for my 9 cats. I buy a 12 month supply and that does me for 1 1/2 months.
